Sadness – A Poem

Sadness reflects in the mirror

A single tear drifts down a cheek

A body crumples to the floor

Is it my body?

I don’t know

Arms wrap around drawn-up knees

A tear falls to the floor

So much pain

Eyes closed

Imagine stitching the hole in my heart

Confusion

Why? How?

Cannot say

Cannot feel

Only sadness

No more thinking

Quiet, please

No more

Only tears

So many tears

Weakness

Maybe sleep

A body slowly unfolds

A body slowly stands

Is it my body?

I don’t know

Sadness reflects in the mirror

Once again

Still

A single tear drifts down a cheek
